Sue Kagan, age 93, of Sandoval, IL, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 24th. She was born on February 7th in Vernon, Illinois, to the late Edith and Glenn Wynn. She was raised with several siblings and many cousins.
Sue married John Kagan, with whom she shared many years of family and memories. Following their separation, she remained devoted to raising their four daughters in the way she knew best, relying on her resilience and determination.
She was preceded in death by many dear family members, including her eldest daughter, Jacqueline Petrucci (Ron Petrucci). Sue is survived by her three daughters: Debra Newell (Terry Newell), Donna Hill (Tony Hill), and Janice Finley (Gary Finley). Sue had twelve grandchildren—Ronald Petrucci II, Michael Petrucci (deceased), Fred Petrucci, Geana Petrucci, Matthew Newell, Jonathan Newell, Carolyn Dixon, Jessy Kopf, Bob Barbee, Valarie Barbee, Julie Finley, and Shannon Finley—as well as many great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her great pride and joy.
Those who knew Sue will remember her as a fiercely independent, strong-willed woman who cared deeply for her family. She found joy in simple, beautiful things—tending her garden, working on DIY projects around her home, sharing handmade crafts with others, collecting gnomes and angels, or enjoying a good western TV show. She also cherished the companionship of her two beloved dogs, Chico and Bonnie. Her family takes comfort in knowing she lived life fully on her own terms, with resilience, humor, and love. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered.
Per her wishes, Sue Kagan will be cremated, and no formal funeral services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to BJC Hospice. They will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home located at 235 North Sycamore Street, Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523, who is honored to be of service to Sue’s Family during this difficult time.
