The Salem Lady Wildcats trailed in the final 2 minutes of their home opener to Carlyle, but Shelby Johnson hit a 3, Jordan Kessler then hit a bucket to give the Lady Cats a 44-43 lead and 2 late free throws by sophomore Katee Sellers clinched the win and snapped a short 2 game skid for Salem who improves to 4-2 on the season.
Jordan Kessler finished with 13 to lead Salem, Sellers added 9, Shelby Johnson 8 and Marah Johnson 7.
Alex Johnson had a great 2nd half to lead Carlyle with 16 and Addie Gansuer put in 14.
The Salem JV won 43-16 to open the night.
Salem is back in action Thursday night when they open the Cahokia Conference with a home game against Breese Central.
