The City of Carlyle has announced its Police Chief Mark Pingsterhaus has been placed on paid suspension after the city was notified by the FBI that they were investigating the police department.
The news release says Pingsterhaus was placed on paid suspension on November 20th until further notice. No charges have been filed at this time. As a reminder, the City of Carlyle notes any party involved is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
City officials also say they are cooperating with the Federal Bureau of Investigations and will not have any comments at this time about the matter.
Pingsterhaus is also one of two candidates on the Republican ballot on March 17th to replace Sheriff Dan Travous who is not running for re-election. The other candidate to file is Dennis Perez.
