The Marion County Board has called a special meeting for Wednesday night to receive the results of a study of the county’s property tax assessments.
The board entered into a $14,800 contract with Property Evaluation and Tax Advisors, LLC two months ago to determine why the county ranks 98th out of the 102 counties for disparity between property tax assessments and the actual sales value of property.
Gary Twist, who did the study, is also expected to provide some suggestions on how to resolve the issues.
The agenda also includes further discussion on a roof for the Marion County Highway Department facility. The issue was addressed at the special budget meeting, but no decisions were made.
The meeting begins at six Wednesday night in the large third story courtroom at the Marion County Courthouse.
