The Illinois School Report Card for the 2024-25 school year gave Hawthorn School a “Commendable” designation and Franklin Park Middle School a “Targeted Support” designation. Franklin Park’s Targeted Support designation indicates that a subgroup of students (students with disabilities) performed below state expectations, and the school will receive school improvement grant funding to support the targeted students.
Superintendent Dr. Leslie Foppe says the underperformance was a result in part of chronic absenteeism and not enough students completing the 5Essentials Survey. The district is developing an improvement plan focused on ELA, Math, chronic absenteeism and completion of the 5Essentials surveys to address the shortcomings on the school report card.
Parents of students are asked to encourage regular attendance and engagement in school activities, and to stay in touch with their children’s teachers and participate in school events.
