A hunting cabin northeast of Texico was destroyed by fire late Wednesday afternoon.

The cabin owned by Ron Foore was fully involved when firemen arrived on the scene.

An inverter installed on Tuesday for the cabin’s solar system was near where the fire started.  After consuming the cabin, the fire spread to some stacks of firewood and into a wooded area before it was put out.

Jefferson Fire was assisted on the scene by Mt. Vernon City, Bluford, Salem, and Kell Firemen, with Waltonville and Benton standing by at the Jefferson Fire Station in the event of another fire.

The fire call came in at three Wednesday afternoon.  Firemen were on the scene until about 5:40 pm.
