Salem Firemen say embers from a nearby brush pile apparently started a fire in four to five acres of soybean stubble on the Tom Beyers property on Bordon Road off Maxey Road north of Salem.
Despite the wind, firemen were able to keep the fire out of a tree line. No buildings were endangered.
Firemen received the call at 2:55 Monday afternoon.
Odin had initially been called to cover the Salem Fire Protection District in the event of another fire but were cancelled before arriving at the station when the fire was knocked down quickly.
