Salem’s season came to an end as they lost in the Greenville Regional semifinal to Nashville 25-13, 25-18. The Lady Cats season finished at 22-11 and it’s the first 20 win season for Salem since 2004-05 season under coach Sherry Hargis. Nashville will play Breese Central in the finals after their win in the first match of the night over Wesclin.
In other 2a match ups, TTown upset 2nd seed Pinckneyville at Effingham in three thrilling sets (25-20, 22-25, 25-23) to advance to the finals to get the host Hearts after they eliminated rival St Anthony in three sets. At Hamilton County, Carmi beat Olney and Newton over Hamilton County. At Mt Carmel, Fairfield beat Robinson and Benton over the host Aces. At Paris, Pana beat Sullivan and Shelbyville over Bismarck Henning. At Red Bud, the hosts beat Marquette and Althoff over Chester. From Vienna, Massac County eliminated Harrisburg and DuQuoin over Vienna. At Virden, Staunton beat North Mac and Hillsboro over Auburn.
