The times are out for this weekend’s opening round of the IHSA state football playoffs.
In 4a, the Centralia Orphans look to avenge one of their two regular season losses as they host Cahokia to Evers Field with a kickoff Saturday at 1pm. The winner will advance to play the winner of #1 seed Olney who hosts Jacksonville at 5pm.
Also at 1pm, Carterville hosts Marquette. At 2pm, Breese Central hosts Columbia with Freeburg at home against Highland at 2:30. There will be one 4a game of note Friday night when Mt Zion hosts Waterloo.
In 5a, Marion will play Saturday at 2pm at Mahomet Seymour while Mascoutah is at Bloomington High at 6pm.
In 6a, East St Louis plays Friday night at 7pm hosting Plainfield East.
In 7a, the Edwardsville Tigers are in with a 4-5 record and they will head to top seed Oak Lawn Richards Friday night at 6pm.
In 8a, Belleville East will play at West Aurora at 6pm Saturday.
In 1a, Dupo will host Salt Fork Saturday at 1pm, Sesser Valier is at Greenfield at 2 and Saturday night at 7pm, Casey Westfield will host Red Hill.
In 2a, Johnston City hosts Wesclin Friday night at 7pm. At 1pm on Saturday it’s Chester hosting Maroa, Pana at home against Bismarck Henning and DuQuoin hosts Carlinville. At 2pm, Flora hosts Nashville.
In 3a at 1pm Saturday, Hillsboro is at Williamsville, Mt Carmel plays at Tolono Unity at 2pm at the same time, Vandalia hosts Christopher, Greenville is at Stanford Olympia and Benton hosts St Joe Ogden. At 2:30, Roxana is at West Frankfort and at 3pm, Fairfield plays at PORTA.
