The Centralia Orphans advance to the semifinals of the Marion Class 2A Regional after defeating Granite City 2-1 Saturday on the Evers Field. Dax Snow’s unassisted goal in the 51st minute was the difference after Jason Castro had scored in the 36th minute for Centralia. Play was stopped by a thunderstorm with just under 20 minutes left. They advance to the semifinals this week to take on top-seed Althoff.

In 1a regional quarterfinals, Roxana beat Carlyle 4-1, Pinckneyville over Harrisburg 2-1 and Pana over Vandalia 3-1.
Today in 1a semifinals, at Altamont it’s Pana and Newton followed by Altamont and TTown. At Columbia it’s Pinckneyville and the host Eagles followed by Anna Jonesboro and Freeburg. At Murphysboro, Massac County takes on Vienna.
