The Marion County Sheriff’s Department reports they are now investigating four stolen truck reports over the weekend. Three of the trucks were later set on fire and were destroyed. The fourth has not been located.
The Salem Fire Department was called to two of the fires early Saturday morning. The first truck burned on a Citation Oil field road off Page Road at 2:18 am. The second fire call came in less than an hour later in a ditch along South Hotze Road north of Lazy Acre Road. The third truck was found already burned Saturday morning in the Dyke Pond near the Citation Oil water plant.
A fourth truck was stolen from a home on Levy Road near Lake Centralia sometime before Saturday morning. It has not yet been found.
The theft of an ATV is also believed to be connected. The ATV was found in the water of Crooked Creek near the Selmaville Road Bridge.
Sheriff Kevin Cripps believes all the thefts and fires are related. He’s asking anyone with information to contact the sheriff’s department.
