It’s the final night in the Cahokia Conference for the Salem Wildcats as they will be leaving and competing in the SI River to River next season. They will close down their stint with a trip to Freeburg. Salem is coming off a tough 7-6 loss at home to Columbia last week while Freeburg blew out Wood River. Freeburg is 3-1 in the League and 6-1 overall needing help tonight to clinch a share of the conference title.
Columbia is playing at home against Breese Central. If the Eagles win, they clinch a share of the title with Breese. Freeburg can get a piece as well if they can win along with a Columbia win. Meanwhile those three teams know they will be in the playoffs and Roxana will get playoff eligible tonight with a home game against Wood River.
It’s also the final conference game ever between arch rival Mt Vernon and Centralia. It will be at Evers Field. The Orphans are 5-2 overall and already playoff eligible but tonight is only about this game as the rivals will close the book on their epic rivalry. The Rams are 3-4 and still looking to get playoff eligible with 2 wins to end the year. A lot on the line in Centralia.
Cahokia is 4-0 overall in the league and has already clinched the title having gone through their league schedule.
