A 34-year-old Salem man was arrested Thursday night for possession of methamphetamine after a drug pipe and a small container were found in the seat of a Salem squad car.

Jeremiah Bobbitt of West Olive had just been taken to the Marion County Jail after he had been arrested on a federal parole violation.

The officer then noticed the items that field tested positive for methamphetamine in the back seat of his squad car.  Video allegedly showed Bobbitt removing the items from his clothing and placing them there.

As a result, Bobbitt was arrested on the new charge of possession of less than five grams of meth.   He was given a notice to appear on the drug charge and held for the US Marshal’s service on the parole violation.
