A 16-year-old rural Mt. Vernon male juvenile received apparent minor injuries when the rear of his car was struck by a Union Pacific train at the Bakerville Road crossing south of Mt. Vernon.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies say the juvenile had stopped behind other traffic waiting to turn onto Route 37 when the incident occurred late Tuesday afternoon. The train that was traveling around 50 miles per hour spun the car off the road following impact.
