A ribbon cutting is set for ten Saturday morning for the renovation of the auditorium at the Salem Community Theatre and Cultural Center.

Everyone is invited to attend, visit, enjoy refreshments, and ask questions from ten to noon.  Visitors can also learn how they can help the theatre with needed fund raising for project.  While the initial $150,000 Phase One is now complete, fund raising is trailing behind and an additional $69,000 still needs to be raised.

Phase One includes an overhaul of the auditorium that has seen the installation of new seating, new flooring, and painting to the ceiling and lobby.   New front doors are expected to be installed soon allowing easier entrance to the theatre.

Additional work in two other phases is planned if money can be raised.

Movies will soon be scheduled and the first play to be performed will be by the Salem Community High School Drama Club in November.

If you can’t make the ribbon cutting, donations are being received online at salemiltheater.org.   You may also mail them to the theatre at 101 South Broadway in Salem.  Questions may be directed to Meredith Fyke at (618) 548-9797.
