Larry David Boles, 80, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 7:01 p.m. on October 14, 2025, at his residence.
He was born September 16, 1945, in Mount Vernon to the late William Arlin and Verla Cleo (Satterfield) Boles. Larry married Patricia Lynn (Bays) Boles on June 17, 1978, at Bear Point Baptist Church in Sesser, Illinois. She preceded him in death on November 1, 2017.
Larry is survived by his children, James Arlin Boles and wife, Emily of Mechanicsburg, Illinois and Tammy Dawn Sartor and husband, Adam of Ewing, Illinois; grandchildren, David William Boles, Ava Hayden Boles, Iris Lynn Ann Boles, Lydia Grace Sartor, and Leah Dawn Sartor; sister-in-law, Dorothy Boles; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Cash Michael.
In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Larry was preceded in death by his grandparents; sister, Helen Nadine Tedford; and brother, Gary Boles.
Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army Artillery in Vietnam in the 3rd Marine Division. He worked as a plant manager for Precision National and then later as operations manager for Direct Motor Freight. Larry attended Pilgrim Lutheran Fellowship. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Visitation will be held Monday, October 20, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon. Full Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #141. Memorials may be made in Larry’s honor to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
