The junior high cross country regionals were held yesterday.

The Selmaville girls varsity team is headed to the Class S state meet after putting all 5 runners in the top 25 to clinch the regional title.  Gabby Harper was the race winner, Karmen Murray was 3rd, McKenzie Mulvany 6, Kailey Meredith 10 and Hadleigh Sapp 25.  Izac Holsapple will also make the trip with his 7th place qualifying him as an individual in the boys event.

Also advancing as a girls team were St Joseph Olney and Raccoon.  St Mary’s MadaLynn Wethington advanced along with Paisley Langston and Hattie King of Woodlawn.

In the boys race, Bluford won the event followed by St Joe Olney and Central City.  The Citians were led by Kolton Cook 5, Zayne Allgood 13 and Mike Sutton 15.  Also moving on individually were Hunter Malekovich and Asher Veller of New Horizon and Callen Williams and Griffin Knowles of St Mary’s.

In Class L hosted by Salem, the Lady Bobcats team advanced to state behind Stevie Nix who was 3rd and Laney Kuhns who finished 4th.  Individual boys who advanced were Grayson Frazier 2nd, Calen Veit-Tackitt 9th as well as Isaiah Turner.

The State Meet is October 18 at the DuQuoin  Fairgrounds.
