The Salem Leaf Vac will begin the fall season on Monday and run through mid-December.
The public works department will make every effort to complete one cycle through town each week on your regular trash collection day or as soon as possible after that day.
The program provides residents with an alternate way to dispose of their leaves. Anytime during the year, residents can place their leaves in a biodegradable yard waste bag for pickup on their normal yard waste collection day.
The city is asking everyone follow some guidelines. Do not rake leaves into drainage areas, sewer inlets, ditches or in front of fire hydrants. Please do not rake twigs, branches, sticks, rocks, bottles or garden debris with leaves because those items could cause equipment to break down. You’re also asked to avoid parking your car in front of a leaf pile.
Any items not picked up due to non-compliance with the rules will become the responsibility of the property owner/tenant.
