It was a big night on and off the court for the Salem Lady Wildcats and Centralia Annies volleyball teams last night at B.E. Gum.  It was pink out night as they raised money for the recent diagnosis of breast cancer that coach Suzanne Brown has been fighting.  Off the court, the teams and fans raised over $18,000 for her fight in front of a very nice crowd.

On the court, the Annies fought off 4 match points in winning the 2nd set and then took the decisive 3rd set.  All the Annies played well, but they were led by Marly Edson who was dominant and seemed to get every big kill CHS needed.  Salem opened with a 25-23 win and then fell in that nail biter of a 2nd set 28-30 before the Annies would pull out the 3rd set 25-22.  It’s the 18th win of the season for Centralia as Salem falls to 14-9.  Both teams will wait as the IHSA will release their volleyball post season schedule and seeds on Friday.

The night began with the Salem JV winning 25-10, 25-22 to improve to 14-3.
