Separate Sunday afternoon fires destroyed a mobile home and a pickup truck in the Salem area.

Salem Firemen say a mobile home at the rear of the Cheryl Mitchell property at 3261 Bryant Lane used for storage caught fire.  The building was a total loss.  The State Fire Marshal’s office was called to investigate the cause of the fire since there was no electricity to the building.  As of now, the cause is listed as undetermined.  Odin and Kell Firemen were called for mutual aid and Kinmundy-Alma Firemen covered the Salem station in case of another fire.

The second fire came about 15 minutes later with Kinmundy-Alma Firemen responded to a power line that fell onto a pickup truck in the 300 block of West Lester setting it on fire.  The truck owned by Thomas Storey of South Franklin in Salem was a total loss.  The blaze spread to a tree on property owned by Michael Rulevich of South Franklin Street.   Odin and Kell Firemen joined Salem in fighting the powerline fire when leaving the mobile home fire.

The mobile home fire was reported by a neighbor at 2:30 Sunday afternoon.  The power line fire was reported at 2:45 Sunday afternoon.

Salem Firemen were also called to a single-vehicle crash on State Route 161 near Medlin Road around 11:30 Sunday morning.  A trailer being pulled by a vehicle turned over on its side, dumping some of the contents onto the road.  The vehicle stayed upright and the driver escaped injury.  State Police handled the crash and no additional informaton is available.
