Franklin Park saw their baseball season come to a bitter end as they fell to Central West Frankfort 2-1 in 9 innings as the Redbirds earned a bases loaded walk to win the game. Salem led 1-0 after the top of the fifth when Eli Purdy hit a solo home run. Purdy would also triple in the game. That is where the game stood until the Redbirds tied the game in the bottom of the 7th. Ben Lux was great for the Bobcats striking out 15 in 6.2 and did not walk a batter. Dakota Gregg worked the final 1.2.
Other Class L first round games saw DuQuoin beat Marion 4-2, Belleville Whiteside beat Johnston City 1-0 and Waterloo shutout Mt Carmel 13-0.
