The Centralia Orphans improved to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the South Seven after beating visiting Marion on Homecoming at Evers Field by a score of 55-28. The Orphans jumped out to a 41-20 lead after a very long first half. Archie Goewey threw for 366 yards and 7 touchdowns before giving way to his backup late in the 4th quarter. Centralia will have a showdown in the conference next week when they play at 5-1 Cahokia who is also unbeaten in the league after winning at Mt Vernon yesterday 42-18. Marion is 3-3 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
