The Little Egypt Festival on Saturday is more than just the parade, as numerous activities will take place in the downtown and Bryan Memorial Park area leading up to the parade.
Activity begins in Bryan Memorial Park near Boone and Broadway at eight am with registration for the car, truck, and bike show. Registration continues until 11, with trophy presentation at one ahead of participation in the parade. Numerous trophies in multiple divisions and specialty awards will be given out.
Craft and food vendors will open at nine on the downtown square according to chair Kelly Predium.
“The vendor area looks to be full,” Predium said. “There is a variety of food that we’re offering this year, lots of varied crafts. People are coming out with homemade jewelry, and the tumblers and permanent jewelry. Woodworking, novelties, and lots of information this year, too.
Predium also heads the Free Kids Zone in the 200 block of North Broadway that will see activity begin at nine.
“We’ve got a bounce house on the kids’ parking lot along with some kids’ games. The big wheel race at ten o’clock is sponsored by ATVs and More and the bounce house is going to be sponsored by Sager Insurance Group, so we’d like to thank both of them for their continued support. We’ve got four bicycles for our winners of the big wheel race, so if you have children between the ages of 4 and 8 who can get on a big wheel and race, we’ve got lots of prizes for them.”
The Horse Show will take place at Franklin Park Middle School beginning at one sponsored by Douglas Veterinary Clinic. The horses will then proceed to the parade route.
