Salem junior Mya Russell shot 71 (+1) to tie for first at regionals at Sandoval on Tuesday which is also a new school record. She finished 2nd after the playoff but will advance to Sectionals as an individual.
Breese Central won their regional shooting 311, Breese Mater Dei shot 325, Highland and Columbia 331 and Alton Marquette 332. The top 3 teams and top 10 non team qualifying individuals advance.
Carlyle won a regional for the first time since 1981 behind medalist Abby Steinkamp’s round of 71.
Mt Carmel dominated 16 others in their 1a regional winning by 56 strokes shooting 285 to Massac County’s 341. The Lady Aces have won 4 straight state titles. Individually, they had the top 4 scores including medalist Ava Brumagin who shot 69.
