The Salem Community High School Marching Wildcats opened their marching season over the weekend with a big win at the Robinson Marching Maroons Festival.

Band Director John Randolph says the band won Class 1A and took first place for color guard, percussion, and drum major.

The band will next perform at half time of the homecoming football game on Friday night and then at the Little Egypt Festival Parade on Saturday,
October 4th. They then resume the marching band competition at Mt. Zion on October 11th and at the Greater St. Louis Marching Band competition on
October 25th.

The name of this year’s show is “Hexed”.

Randolph says the marching band has 45 members this year. He notes the kids have been working really hard on the show starting with summer
practices.
