The Centralia City Council Monday night will consider the purchase of two used vehicles.
One of the vehicles would be for the police department. Chief Chris Locke is requesting the purchase of a 2023 Dodge Durango from the Kansas Highway Patrol at a cost of $37,400. Locke says due to the increasing number of vehicles in the police department fleet which have exceeded 100,000 plus miles, now at five, he wants the vehicle for the administrative/investigative personnel. That will allow the rotation of lower mileage vehicles in the fleet which will prolong the need for additional replacements in some cases. In addition, it will allow the police department to continue to provide vehicles to other city departments such as ESDA.
The second vehicle would be to replace a non-operational vehicle in the public works department. The 206 Chevrolet Silverado from Crump’s Auto and Trailer Sales would cost $16,200.
A Proclamation will recognize the 85th Anniversary of Kaskaskia College.
Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator John Buchholz will be honored for 15 years of service.
The meeting begins at six Monday night at Centralia City Hall.
