Odin Firemen handled two brush fires in the same area of the 2700 block of Queens Avenue in the Royal Lakes neighborhood on Thursday afternoon.
In the first fire, two to three acres burned, but there was danger to structures. Sandoval provide mutual aid on the scene, while Salem stood by at the Odin Fire Station in the event of another fire.
In the second fire, the blaze was getting close to a mobile home. Sandoval, Salem, Centralia City and Patoka all provided mutual aid. The call was elevated to a full still alarm because of the heavy volume of smoke that could be seen from Odin and the proximity to the structure.
There were no injuries in either fire. Firemen were on the scene for about 90 minutes for each fire.
