Salem Police arrested a 31-year-old Salem man for possession of under five grams of methamphetamine. Christopher Budds of West Schwartz was taken into custody following a traffic stop where the Salem canine alerted on the vehicle, and a search produced a small amount of meth. Budds was released on a notice to appear in court.
A 35-year-old homeless Centralia man was returned by prison transport to the Marion County Jail. Joshua Benjamin is being held on a no-bond Marion County felony failure to appear warrant.
23-year-old Brendon Frazier of East Sandpiper in Bluford was returned to the Marion County Jail from Jefferson County on a no-bond failure to appear major traffic warrant.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a vehicle and a shed being entered in the 700 block of Thomas Street in Iuka. The owner arrived on Tuesday to find all doors open on a pickup truck and bicycle tracks through the shed. However, nothing could be immediately found missing.
The Salem Fire Protection District was called to a grass fire on Route 37 between Bason and Brubaker Road around 11 p.m. Tuesday night. A four-by-20-foot area was on fire and was not threatening any buildings.
