The Salem City Council approved a downtown TIF redevelopment agreement designed to rehabilitate two businesses with vacant storefronts at 118 and 120 West Main.
The council was told Monday night Jered Gambill would purchase and improve the two buildings with the assistance of $150,000 in reimbursement from the downtown TIF District. Work will include tearing off a rear addition of one of the buildings and rehabilitating the other. Both will have the store fronts renovated for occupancy with second floor apartments.
The council also converted two TIF Four Predevelopment Agreements to Redevelopment Agreements, now that TIF 4 is in place. One of the agreements for Glenn Henderson and Salem Tire will allow for recovery of up to $370,000 TIF eligible expenses for improvements to the main showroom on West Main and the warehouse on East Main. Money is also included for training reimbursement. The other is for Scott Conant, who is developing the Hilda Garden Apartments on Airport Road. Up to $1 million in reimbursable expenses are included in the agreement.
In other action, the council approved Halloween Trick or Treating for Friday night, October 31st, from six to eight pm.
