The Salem City Council voted Monday night to move forward on applications for two grants.
The council will be seeking a $600,000 Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant through the Department of Natural Resources for additional improvements to Bryan Memorial Park. The project included are bathrooms near the Inclusive Playground, pickleball courts and improvements to the Bryan Memorial Park Stage among other amenities.
They also voted to seek a $250,000 Safe Roads to Schools Grant that would construct sidewalks on the north side of Salem Community High School on Park Street from the back school entrance into McNeil Acres.
Grant applications need to be submitted this fall.
