Mother and son were reported to be doing well after the mother gave birth in a Life Star Ambulance Thursday afternoon outside her home on Circle Drive in Centralia.
Centralia City Firemen say the mother called for assistance as she went into labor. After being transported to the ambulance on a stretcher by firemen and the ambulance crew, the baby was born in the rear of the ambulance. The mother and healthy baby boy were then transported to SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital.
Firemen say the mother had earlier gone to the hospital, but returned home after being told it was too soon.
The Life Star crew that delivered the baby were J.D. Whelton and John Wright.
