Jefferson Fire reports a semi ran off northbound I-57 at the 102 mile marker south of Dix early Thursday morning injuring the driver.
The cab and trailer separated after the truck left the side of the road and the trailer eventually broke open some of the 15 totes carrying an unregulated chemical. The hazmat team from area fire departments was called to contain the chemical that spilled onto the ground until an environmental services clean up team arrived. The firemen were able to pump up the spillage from one and a half of the totes.
The chemical in its diluted form posed no environmental damage.
Northbound travel on I-57 may have been shut down for a short time before one lane travel was restored near the crash site.
State Police have not released the details of the crash or the name of the driver of the truck.
