Marion County Highway Engineer Alex Kreke reported to the county board’s road and bridge committee Tuesday night that road oiling has been completed for this year and final mowing of county road right of way is currently underway.

Kreke reported the department has been making temporary repairs to the Hoots Chapel Road near Boone Street that has been badly damaged by construction of a large solar farm.  He reports most of the heavy hauling into the site is now finished so he’s hopeful the temporary repairs will hold until the project is completed and permanent improvements can be made with a bond put up by the company to assure the road is put back in good condition.

Kreke says new lane striping will be completed on the Green Street Road and Walnut Hill Road in October.
