Richard Lee Featherling, 84, of Walnut Hill, passed away at 9:47 p.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born April 30, 1941, in Centralia, Illinois, the son of Olcy and Mary (Keith) Featherling.  He married Rosemary Melton, and they enjoyed 42 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on November 4, 2005.

Richard was a tire builder at Continental Tire and was a member of Boyd Christian Church.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and riding his scooter around town.

He is survived by two daughters, Melissa Donoho and husband Roger of Walnut Hill, and Julie Benjamin and husband Kenny of Kell; grandchildren, Brian, Steven, Jeffrey, and Curtis Donoho of Walnut Hill, and Jordan Benjamin of Kell; great-grandchildren, Karter and Kalynn Benjamin and Kendall Pearce, all of Kell; brother, Russell Featherling; and sisters, Joyce Clements and Helen Lamb.  He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Myra Bowen of Mt. Vernon, and two nephews, Jeff and Kevin Bowen.

In addition to his wife, Rosemary Featherling, he was preceded in death by his parents, Olcy and Mary Featherling; son, Gregory Featherling; grandson, Joshua Benjamin; sister, Mary Tate; brothers, Billie, Tommy, Bob, and David Featherling; and in-laws, Cliff and Imogene Melton.

A private graveside funeral service for Mr. Featherling will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery.  No public funeral services will be held.  In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to his family, in care of Melissa Donoho, and will be accepted by mail to the Osborn Funeral Home, P.O.
