Nancie M.(nee Lehnus) Herod, 85, of Chester, VA, formerly of Lackawanna, NY, passed away on August 18, 2025.
She was born July 21, 1940, in Illinois, the daughter of Melvin and Vida Walker. Beloved wife of the late Thomas Herod; loving mother of Thomas J. (Ellen) Herod, Jr., and Cathy Herod; cherished grandmother of Mathias Herod, Anna (Chandler) Barfield, and also her grand fur babies: Furball, Herbie, Willow, and Kaiser. daughter of the late Vida (nee Handley) and Melvin Walker; dear sister of Michael (Annette) Walker, Harold (Sandra) Walker, Don (Mary) Walker, Linda (Steve) Jones, Sandra (Carl) Mecum, and Lois Durbin; dearest sister-in-law: of Walter Herod, Pat (late Joel) Moore, late Richard (Phyllis) Herod, Barbara (Don) Smyton, Marilyn (late Thaddeus) Bryniarski, Toni (John) Sibenik, Jim (Cindi) Herod, Betty (Neil) Herzog, and the late Denise Herod; also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Nancie’s family would also like to thank her wonderful caregivers: Gina Semonco, Cynthia Steward, Carolyn Ulmer, Charmaine, and Katoya King.
The family will be present on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM at the (Blasdell/Lackawanna Chapel) JOHN J. KACZOR FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3450 South Park Ave., Lackawanna, New York, where a Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 20th at 10 AM. Interment and Military Honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Lackawanna, New York. Nancie was an Army Veteran. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Nancie’s name to your local ASPCA.
