The Illinois Department of Transportation reports two sections of Main Street in Salem will be resurfaced beginning this week with the project expected to be completed by late September.
The two areas to be resurfaced are on West Main from Selmaville Road to Baldridge Lane in front of the Walmart Store and East Main from Weymeyer Drive at the entrance to the former American Legion to Lackey Lane on the other side of the railroad underpass. Both sections had temporary patching completed earlier due to the rough payment.
Howell Paving of Salem is completing the $905,000 project.
Flaggers will maintain two-way traffic during the work.
Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes during this closure. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, be alert for changing conditions, obey all construction signage, and refrain from using mobile devices while approaching and traveling through the work zone.
