The Salem City Council Tuesday night will be asked to execute an engineering agreement with Milano and Grunloh Engineers, LLC for design work related to construction of Maverick Street.

Maverick Street would be a half-mile road that would be across West Main Street from the southbound exit ramp of I-57 opening up land in the southwest quadrant of the Interstate Exchange for development.  The road would travel south a short distance between turning west and rejoining the existing Hotze Road.

The engineering agreement will be in the amount of $376,042.

The council will also consider a $57,200 bid from Century Fence Company to put a new fence around the Public Works Department in Tully Park.  The amount of the bid is $2,200 over budget.

New Salem patrolman Brett Niepoetter will be sworn in.  He recently graduated from the Police Academy and is now completing field officer training with other officers.

The meeting begins at six Tuesday night at Salem City Hall.
