A new Salem patrolman has graduated from the Macon County Law Enforcement Training Center.

Brett Niepoetter of Salem completed 16 weeks of training at the center and will now begin 14 weeks of field training with another Salem police officer before beginning patrol on his own.

Three others began law enforcement training last week and will graduate near the end of the year before starting their field training.

Salem Police Chief Todd Boles says with the officers now in training they will be back to full force by spring after one time being up to six officers short.
