Salem Police have arrested two people in connection with a forgery case where stolen checks were later cashed.
32-year-old Thomas TJ Wilkins of North Jefferson in Salem was arrested for three counts of forgery. He is believed to have taken the checks from the victim.
36-year-old Bryttany Hester of Centralia was arrested on two counts of forgery for allegedly cashing two of the checks for .
Salem Police say Wilkins allegedly took stolen checks from the victim’s car in late July. Video surveillance from the bank where the checks were cashed allegedly identified the two as being involved.
Wilkins was already in the Marion County Jail following an arrest on unrelated charges of possession of a weapon by a felon and possession of a stolen firearm.
Police say the checks were cashed for a total of $1,400.
