Leona L. Lallman, age 95 of Beckemeyer, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese on Thursday, August 21, 2025.
Mrs. Lallman was born in Beaver Prairie, Illinois, on December 1, 1929, a daughter of the late George and Catherine (Schoo) Lappe. She married Lavern E. Lallman at St. John’s Church in Breese on April 26, 1947, and he preceded her in death on January 16, 2011.
Leona was a hardworking woman who spent many years employed at Moran Shoe Factory and devoted much of her life to her community. A faithful member of Beckemeyer United Methodist Church and the Beckemeyer American Legion Auxiliary since 1953, she found great joy in volunteering and serving others. She was deeply involved in her children’s lives, active in the school PTA when they were young, and never missed the chance to support her grandchildren at their events. Known for her kindness and generosity, Leona was always ready to lend a hand—whether that meant cooking a meal, offering help, or simply being present when someone needed her. Above all, she cherished time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and her special niece and nephew, Larry and Martha Wuebbels.
Leona is survived by her children, Linda Williams of Carlyle, Connie Lager and husband Ron of Carlyle, and Debi Moss and husband Randy of Columbia, TN; her grandchildren, Shauna Daou (Roger), Justin Lager (Jill), Tara Ford, Lucas Moss (Jenny), Katie Paradis (Joe), and Alex Moss (Liza); her great grandchildren, Camden Daou, Jaedon Lager, Jolee Lager, Montana Ford, Brock Hawes, Owen Moss, Annie Moss, Eve Paradis, Hannah Paradis, Gray Paradis, and Elliott “Elle” Moss; and 3 great great grandchildren, Langston Ford, Reagan James, and Colter Rhodes.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Lallman was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jerry Williams; her father-and mother-in-law, Edward “Teddy” and Marie (Mizera) Lallman; her sisters, Lorene Voland (Orbon), Olivia “Dolly” Isaak (Bob), Irene Albat (Edward “Sawdie”), and Catherine “Babe” Woltering (Theodore); her brothers, Eugene “Pete” Lappe (Edith), Walter Lappe (Viola), and Edwin Lappe; and her in-laws, Edgar Patton (Joan and Marge), Loretta Wuebbels Heinzmann (Joe Wuebbels and Pete Heinzmann), and Gloria Vandorn (Emil).
Private funeral services will be held, with burial at Beckemeyer City Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Lallman are suggested to the Beckemeyer Fire Department or to the Beckemeyer American Legion Auxiliary. Donations will be received through Zieren Funeral Home, 1111 Clinton Street, Carlyle, IL 62231. Online condolences may be shared by visiting www.ZierenFuneralHome.com.
