Centralia City Schools held the annual new teacher orientation for the upcoming school year last week. Assistant superintendent Elizabeth Hollenkamp says new teachers were given a tour of the school buildings and introduced to the instructional coaching program and resources available to teachers. Hollenkamp notes that many of the teachers new to the district already have years of experience teaching, and says the district looks forward to their contributions.

In business at the regular board meeting on Tuesday, the school board hired Holly Tieman as special education supervisor, Erica Leger as bus driver, Jace Hughes as classroom paraprofessional, Vendee Quandt as individual paraprofessional, Luke Hinchee as bus driver, Racquel Marshall as bus monitor, Victoria Rodgers as bus monitor, and Amber Schmidt as bus monitor.

The board accepted the resignations of Holly Overall as bus monitor and Lori Kell as classroom paraprofessional.

The board approved new contracts with Soliant for special education services, Bridge Therapy for speech services, and a five-year renewal with CTS Telecom for phone services.

The Centralia City School Board will hold the annual budget hearing at its next meeting on September 9.
