A Solar Farm valued at nearly 15 million dollars has been proposed near U.S. 50 a mile east of Sandoval.
The Project Development Manager for Dimension Energy Paul Irby is requesting the Marion County Board take action on the application at its August meeting so they can meet the September 1st deadline to seek state funding for the community solar project.
“It’s a 30-acre community solar project located east of Sandoval here in Marion County,” Irby said. “It’s got about 12,600 solar panels on the site. It’s going to produce enough power for the equivalent of 800 to 1200 homes. It’s a community solar project, so Ameren customers will have the opportunity to sign up and get savings on their electricity bills.”
Irby says that savings is usually about ten percent of their energy costs.
If the application is approved and funded, Irby expects construction to begin in the spring. The work should be completed in about six months. The company will seek out local workers for the project.
