A high-pressure natural gas line was severed by an auger being used to try and clear a sewer line on the north side of Centralia during the noon hour on Wednesday.

Centralia City Firemen say the natural gas traveled through the sewer line into a photo shop and a home on the corner of North Elm and Gragg Street Road.

There were no injuries.

Fire, police and ESDA worked to block off the immediate area and allow traffic in only one lane of North Elm Street until the gas line could be tapped by Ameren Illinois.

Repairs took about an hour and a half to complete.
