Patrick H. Moore, 79, of Champaign, died at home on Friday, Aug 1, 2025.

There will be a visitation on Friday, Aug 8, from 5-7 pm at Owens Funeral Home, 101 N.Elm St, Champaign. A second visitation will be held at New Bethel Baptist Church, 501 N. Sycamore St, Centralia on Saturday, Aug 9 from 12-1. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 at the church with Rev. Ronald Johnson officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Centralia.

Patrick was born on Nov 21, 1945, to William Moore and Majoria (Jefferson) Maines. He graduated from Centralia High School in 1963. Partrick graduated from Centralia Jr.College in 1965. He honorably served in the US Army from 1966-1968 as a Combat Engineer. After he was discharged, Patrick then attended McKendree College in Lebanon, earning a bachelor’s degree in marketing in 1972. Patrick earned a master’s degree from Governors State University in public administration in 1989.

On June 5, 1970, he married Glenda ‘Kathy’ Boyd. Together, they celebrated 44 years of marriage and raised 5 children. Patrick was active in his children’s lives, volunteering as a youth baseball coach and Cub Scout leader. His greatest joy was raising his children and later becoming a grandfather.

Patrick was preceded in death by 2 beloved children, Patrick Henry Moore II and Patricia Moore, his parents, and by Kathy on June 6, 2014.

He is survived by 1 daughter, Jodi (Todd) Heck of Sierra Vista, AZ; 2 sons, Marcius Moore of Champaign and Dr. Justin Moore of Flossmoor, and 3 grandchildren, Evan Petty of Chicago, Kaden Heck of Salt Lake City, UT, and McKenna Heck of Bozeman, MT. Patrick is also survived by his 7 sisters, Mary Moore, Georgette Jelks, Joanne Maines, Sherry Maines, Helen Maines, Barbara Sosa, and Stephanie Maines, and his 2 brothers, Jeff Maines and Mike Maines, along with their families.

Professionally, Patrick worked for Illinois Power Company until retirement in 1998. Patrick served on the City of Champaign Planning Commission from 1994 -1998. Additionally, he was a member of Kiwanis. Patrick loved to talk and never met a stranger. He had a joke and a story for everything; his wisdom and humor were shared with all he encountered. Patrick enjoyed people, his family, and his church families.
