A 28-year-old Salem man has been arrested on four charges after allegedly discharging a gun during a neighborhood dispute near Maplewood and Sycamore Streets just north of Salem late Thursday night.

Marion County Sheriff Kevin Cripps says Alexander Brown of Maplewood Avenue allegedly pulled the firearm and pointed the gun in the area of a dog before discharging.  No one was struck or injured.

Brown was identified by those in the area as the person who fired the gun.  Cripps says a person in a relationship with Brown later produced the gun which she said belonged to her that was still warm from being shot.

Brown was gone by the time deputies arrived but was taken into custody on Tuesday when the sheriff’s department DCFS deputy saw him in his yard.   While Brown ran inside, he eventually turned himself in without incident when additional sheriff’s department personnel arrived on the scene.

Brown was taken to the Marion County Jail for aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated assault with a firearm, battery, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.  He was being held on Monday pending the filing of formal charges and a first appearance in court.
