Time is running out to register for fall classes at Kaskaskia College that begin on Monday, August 18th. To help students who haven’t registered, the annual Saturday registration day is set for this Saturday, August 9th, from ten to two at the Main Campus and all education centers except Nashville and Salem which are still closed for renovation following storm damage. However, college officials have announced the Salem center will reopen for classes during the fall semester.
KC Student Outreach Coordinator Carrie Hancock said registering at KC is easy and can be done in a variety of different ways. Students can visit KC’s main campus, KC’s Education Centers in Greenville, Vandalia, or Trenton, or the Crisp Manufacturing and Trades Center, any day KC is open during the summer and register. She says the nice thing about the process at KC is all departments are in one centralized location, and you don’t have to travel all over campus to find the registration materials and departments you need. You can also apply for admission and be processed within 24 hours. After that, Hancock says it’s “smooth sailing.”
Registering over email is also possible by contacting the advising office. For Kaskaskia College admissions inquiries via email, you can reach out to kcadmissions@kaskaskia.edu. For more information on admissions, you can also contact them by phone at 618-545-3040.
The Crisp Manufacturing and Trades Center houses KC’s four skilled trade programs, HVAC, Carpentry, Industrial Technology and Welding. The Education Centers offer a variety of different classes, which you can find here.
KC is also offering four new certificates in the fall of 2025, including Precision Agriculture, Manufacturing Technology, Construction Scheduling and Construction Estimating. With KC being in the heart of a farming community, keeping up to date with agricultural technology is crucial for anyone following a career path in the industry. The Precision Ag program will cover innovative farming technology like autosteering systems, drones and yield monitors.
The Construction Scheduling and Estimating certificates provide training on how to operate the many moving parts of a construction site, from calculating the amount of materials needed, the amount of workers required, how long it will take each section of the job to be completed and much more.
The Manufacturing Technology certificate is great for any person looking to upgrade their skills, explore the industry or take that first step toward making a career change. Classes cover a wide variety of topics including safety, mathematics and processes.
