Both Marion County Fair Queen Ella Douglas and Junior Miss Jane Taylor Rose say they enjoyed the start of their reign during last week’s fair.

Douglas says being able to sell her cow at the 4-H Auction was the highlight, but also enjoyed seeing the demolition derby for the first time.

“It has been a dream. Every day I and my junior miss, Jane Taylor, have been here at the fair. We’ve been telling kids all we do is eat fair food, corn dogs and lemon shakeups. We sleep here, we only drive around our golf carts, and we never take off our crowns.”

Junior Miss Rose also had a fun week.

“My week has been great. I still can’t believe I was the lucky one that night I got crowned. I have enjoyed my whole entire week, and I can’t wait to see what’s in the books for the whole year.”

Next up is the State Fair in Springfield this week. The two queens will also be participating in all of the upcoming fall festival parades before Douglas goes to Springfield in January for the state competition.
