A bedroom of a Centralia home was gutted during a fire Monday morning.
Centralia city firemen say the fire was visible through a bedroom window upon their arrival at a home occupied by Beau Bequette at 304 South Beech. He was gone at the time, but feared another resident may still be inside. A search failed to find anyone and the woman showed up at the scene an hour later.
Firemen got a quick knockdown, but the bedroom where the fire started was gutted. The rest of the single story home sustained smoke damage.
A deputy fire marshal was called to try and help determine the cause of the fire. After an initial review, it is currently listed as undetermined.
The home is reportedly owned by Doris Hollsapple.
All available Centralia City Firemen as well as the Centralia Fire Protection District were called for additional manpower. Odin firemen stood by at the main Centralia Fire Station in the event of another fire.
The fire call came in at 4:45 Monday morning. Firemen were on the scene for two hours.
