A 45-year-old Centralia woman has pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. Christy Hamburg of Old Salem Road in Centralia received a two-year prison term in the Illinois Department of Corrections. After getting out of prison, she will have to serve six months of court supervision, was fined $100, and ordered to pay a $200 public defender fee.
Meanwhile, a 45-year-old Salem man pleaded guilty to a charge of unlawful delivery of 5 to 15 grams of methamphetamine and was sentenced to six years in prison. However, the sentence was stayed to give Gilbert Sidener of West Bennett of Salem a chance to participate in drug court. If he is successful in completing the program, the charge and prison sentence will be dismissed. A second charge of unlawful delivery of 15 to 100 grams of methamphetamine was dismissed.
Sidener was one of three in a home in the 600 block of North Broadway when a search warrant was executed by the Southeastern Illinois Drug Task Force in June 2023. The other two were released.
The original story did not include the prison term had been stayed for placement in the drug court program. We apologize for the error.
