Salem Fire Protection District Firemen were able to confine a fire in a two-car detached garage at the Francios Ballard home at 3253 Hotze Road to the north wall.
There was some smoke and heat damage to a workshop and other items in the garage. The house was just six feet to the south and was not involved.
A deputy State Fire Marshal reviewed the fire scene. Salem Assistant Fire Chief Bill Fulton says while the cause will remain undetermined the most likely cause is electrical.
Odin joined Salem Firemen on the scene while Kell and Kinmundy-Alma Firemen stood by at the Salem Fire Station in the event of another fire.
